Sunnyvale Library of the Future Study to be Presented
SUNNYVALE, Calif. – The initial study for Sunnyvale’s Library of the Future has been completed, and findings are consistent with what many have said in the past: the community needs and wants library services now and into the future. The study also pointed out that books and services for children and teens are a priority, as is support for education and lifelong learning; quiet zones, group study areas and meeting room spaces also are important for the Library to function as a special place for intellectual endeavors and cultural exchange. The Library should be a center and “the Heart of the Community.”
These findings will be presented to the Board of Library Trustees December 18, at 7 p.m., Council Chambers, 456 West Olive Ave. The meeting is open to the public. The report is expected to go to City Council January 23. The study, completed by Anderson Brulé Architects, includes a Community Needs Assessment, Plan of Service, Building Program and Existing Facility Assessment.
