SUNNYVALE PUBLIC SAFETY SEEKS CRIME INFORMATION

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – On May 4, 2007, Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety (DPS) was notified of allegations made by an 11-year-old girl that she was touched in an inappropriate manner by the manager of Gourmet Ice Cream, 223 E. Maude Ave., Sunnyvale. The girl, a Sunnyvale resident, reported the manager enticed her with free ice cream when she visited the store and he touched her in a sexual manner on two occasions during 2007.

The manager was later identified as 36-year-old Gerardo Ochoa. He was interviewed by DPS detectives and was subsequently arrested on charges of lewd acts against a child. Ochoa is currently in custody at the Santa Clara County Main Jail.  

The ice cream shop is located in a residential neighborhood, a block away from an elementary school. DPS and the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office are concerned there may be other unreported incidents.
