SUNNYVALE PUBLIC SAFETY LOOKING FOR SUSPECT WANTED ON KIDNAPPING, ASSAULT, OTHER CHARGES

SUNNYVALE, Calif.Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety (DPS) investigators are seeking information about the whereabouts of Alejandro Alcala, a 21-year-old San Jose resident. On the night of June 25, a Sunnyvale DPS officer was involved in a foot chase with Alcala, who is wanted for parole violation. Alcala fled into a mobile home park on Borregas Avenue, and entered one of the mobile homes where he was confronted by the 76-year-old female resident. A struggle ensued, and the resident was physically assaulted. Alcala fled after being confronted by the resident’s son.

Alcala then entered another residence, took a set of car keys and stole the vehicle. A vehicle pursuit ensued after Alcala was spotted driving out of the mobile home park. The pursuit ended when the vehicle crashed in the Lake Cunningham area of San Jose. Alcala was able to escape on foot.

During the course of the incident and investigation, approximately 100 officers were involved, with officers from San Jose, Mountain View and Santa Clara assisting Sunnyvale DPS. Alcala is wanted for kidnapping, assault, burglary, stolen vehicle and reckless evading of police officers.
