SUNNYVALE PUBLIC SAFETY ARRESTS MURDER SUSPECT
SUNNYVALE, Calif. – Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety (DPS) investigators have arrested a suspect wanted in conjunction with an April 26, 2007, murder at 499 N. Fair Oaks Ave., Sunnyvale.
Victor Knox-Martinez, a 20-year-old San Jose resident, was located at a residence in the 1400 block of E. San Antonio St., San Jose, Friday evening (July 13).
Knox-Martinez fled the residence on foot, and numerous San Jose police officers responded to the area to assist in searching for Knox-Martinez. A short time later, at about 8 p.m., Knox-Martinez was arrested in the area of E. St. James St. and 31st St, after speaking to Sunnyvale investigators on a cell phone and deciding to surrender.
The arrest culminated a multi-agency effort, involving officers from Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety, San Jose Police Department and Mountain View Police Department. Knox-Martinez was arrested on a murder warrant that was obtained by Sunnyvale DPS investigators in relation to the death of 27-year-old Rolando Mendoza of San Jose. Following his arrest, Knox-Martinez was transported to Santa Clara County Jail and booked on the murder warrant. Sunnyvale DPS investigators are continuing the investigation.
