Solar System Ambassador Eric Norris
to Present NASA Missions UPDATE

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – NASA/JPL Ambassador Eric Norris will present an update on recent NASA missions at Sunnyvale Public Library, Tuesday, September 18, at 7 p.m.

Norris is expected to discuss both current and future missions, including: the Phoenix Mars mission, scheduled for launch in August, which will look for potential sites for water, ice and possible indicators of life, past or present; the Dawn mission to asteroids Ceres and Vesta, which will explore the formation of our solar system; an update on the Mars exploration rovers Spirit and Opportunity; and the new extended missions for the Deep Impact and Stardust spacecraft, designed to observe comets and characterize extrasolar planets. This program is intended for adults and teens; groups of eight or more people are asked to contact the Reference Desk in advance of the program by calling (408) 730-7300, TDD (408) 730-7501.

Librarian Sara Kempen says, “If you’re hungry for information about space exploration, make plans to attend this evening of science and technology.”

The Library is located at 665 W. Olive Ave., across from City Hall. Free parking is always available, and VTA line 54 serves the Library.  More information on Library programs and activities is available on the Library’s Web site at www.sunnyvalelibrary.org, or by calling the Library at (408) 730-7300, TDD (408) 730-7501.
