DRAFT EIR FOR MARY AVENUE EXTENSION PROJECT RELEASED

Public can file comments until October 12

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – The draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) on Sunnyvale’s Mary Avenue Extension project has been released and is available for public review and comment. The document may be viewed online at MaryAvenue.inSunnyvale.com.

The proposed extension includes a three-tenths of a mile bridge that would cross over U.S. 101 and Route 237, VTA’s Tasman West light rail tracks and Moffett Park Drive.  The bridge structure would have four traffic lanes, a raised median, sidewalks and bike lanes. In addition, the project includes signalized intersection improvements at the intersection of Mary Avenue and Almanor Avenue, and at the northern connection of Mary Avenue to the Eleventh Street and E Street intersection.

Copies of the draft EIR can be obtained from the Sunnyvale Department of Public Works, and a review copy is available at Sunnyvale Public Library. An electronic copy is available online at MaryAvenue.inSunnyvale.com.

Comments on the draft EIR may be submitted in writing by any person prior to 5 p.m. Friday, October 12. Written comments should be filed in the Department of Public Works, Division of Transportation and Traffic, 456 West Olive Avenue. Comments will be responded to in the final EIR and will be considered by Sunnyvale City Council.
