SUNNYVALE TO PRESENT COUNCIL CANDIDATE FORUM

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – Candidates for the four open seats on the Sunnyvale City Council will have an opportunity to answer questions in a forum to be held October 2 and October 4. Different candidates will appear each night, with both sessions beginning at 7 p.m. Both forums will be broadcast live on KSUN-15, and the public is invited to attend the forums which will be held in City Council Chambers, 456 W. Olive Ave.

The forum was established by City Council as a method to better inform the community about the candidates. At Council’s request, the forum will be hosted by attorney

Patti White, who is an impartial party to the
Sunnyvale elections. A unique aspect of the forum is the possibility of a third “candidate’s response night” forum to be held at 7 p.m., Monday, November 5, the evening prior to Election Day. If a candidate feels he or she has been the victim of a negative campaign by an opponent, the candidate may request an opportunity to appear in the Monday evening broadcast. White will make the decision as to whether a final forum is warranted by 10 a.m., November 5, and that decision will be posted both on KSUN-15 and the City’s Web site, www.sunnyvale.ca.gov.

Separately, KSUN-15 will continue its election-year tradition of broadcasting recorded statements by each candidate for a City Council seat. The statements, limited to three minutes in length, will be presented throughout the month of October. Specific dates and times for all KSUN-15 broadcasts are available on the Web at KSUN.inSunnyvale.com. For more information, call the Communications Office at (408) 730-7535, TDD (408) 730-7501.
