SUNNYVALE BEGINS OPEN SPACE PROJECT
SUNNYVALE, Calif. – The Sunnyvale Department of Parks and Recreation is implementing a project to assess how the City’s parks and open space meet the needs of its residents, and how the City can best meet the community’s needs in the future. The project’s conclusions – the centerpiece of the Sunnyvale Parks and Open Space of the Future project – will act as a foundation for developing a set of strategies and goals to continue Sunnyvale’s reputation for offering high-quality park facilities, recreational opportunities and cultural experiences. These will then be rolled into the existing Open Space and Recreation sub-element of the City’s General Plan.
Through a series of surveys, focus groups, interviews and other outreach efforts, the City will gather information for a parks and open space planning document, which will help guide the City’s decision making with current and future parks related issues. During the planning process, the City will analyze current and future demographics and compare Sunnyvale’s services versus those of other cities.
