SUNNYVALE SELECTS NEW MAYOR, VICE MAYOR 

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – Anthony (Tony) Spitaleri has been selected the 58th mayor of Sunnyvale, and Melinda Hamilton has been selected vice mayor. The City Council made the selections at their Tuesday evening (January 8) meeting. In keeping with a City Charter amendment passed by voters last November to extend the mayor’s term from one to two years, Spitaleri will serve until January 2010. Hamilton will serve a one-year term, ending January 2009.

Earlier in the evening, at a 6 p.m. special Council meeting, the oath of office was administered to re-elected Councilmembers Hamilton, Otto Lee and Ron Swegles, as well as to newly-elected Councilmember David Whittum.
