 Craicmore PERFORMS IN SUNNYVALE 4/5/08

CONTEMPORARY CELTIC BAND CAPS MULTI-CULTURAL ARTS SEASON

SUNNYVALE, CA – (February 5, 2008) Sunnyvale Theatre’s 2007-08 Evenings of Cultural Arts series concludes with the Sunnyvale debut of the contemporary traditional Celtic band Craicmore on  Saturday, April 5, 2008, at 8 p.m. at the intimate Sunnyvale Theatre, located at the Community Center, 550 E. Remington Drive, Sunnyvale, between El Camino Real and Sunnyvale-Saratoga Road. General admission tickets are $25. Discount tickets for students and seniors are $20. Tickets are on sale now.

Las Angeles-based Craicmore performs traditional tunes so beautiful that Irish folklore credits faeries, or fallen angels, as the composers. Songs from their critically acclaimed CD, Too Bad for Heaven, Too Good for Hell, includes contemporary arrangements of such tunes as Robbie Burns’ “Brose and Butter” and “The De’ils Awa’ wi’ th’ Exciseman” (The Devil’s Away with the Taxman) and Allen Ramsay’s poem “Gi’e Me a Lass wi’ a Lump o’ Land.”

The band -- which grew out of chance meetings at the legendary Monday night seisiun, or jam session, at LA’s Celtic Arts Center – now tours extensively through the Western US and performs at many Scottish and Irish festivals. Their music has been featured on television programs including CBS’ How I Met Your Mother and Without a Trace and NBC’s Days of our Lives.

Lead singer Nancy’s Johnstone’s deep, velvety voice, unique in the genre, has become a signature of the Los Angeles-based group. Craicmore uses traditional Celtic instruments, accented with four-part harmonies, rhythmic hardshoe dancing, an East Indian shruti box and Australian didgeridoo, played by former Wicker Tinkers percussionist John MacAdams.

All Evenings of Cultural Arts programs are Saturdays at 8 p.m. Individual tickets for all shows are $25 general admission and $20 students and seniors with ID. Season ticket packages are available, $68-$160. Group discounts are also available. For tickets, please phone the Sunnyvale Theatre Box Office at 408.733.6611. The Box Office is open Monday-Friday, 4:30-6:30 p.m. and two hours prior to shows.
