Sunnyvale Library to Celebrate National Library Week
SUNNYVALE, Calif. – Sunnyvale Public Library has planned several special events in observance of National Library Week, April 13 – 19. All residents are invited to join in the National Library Week festivities.
To celebrate the beginning of National Library Week, members of the Library Board of Trustees will be on hand Sunday, April 13, 2 p.m. – 4 p.m., to give away library mementos, refreshments and answer questions about library services.
Have your picture taken and placed on a free, personalized bookmark. Personalized bookmarks will be offered Sunday, April 13, 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.; Thursday, April 17, 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.; and Saturday, April 19, 10 a.m. – noon. Never forget where you left off reading again. Make a personalized bookmark with your picture on it and remind yourself to read.
Sunnyvale celebrities will read stories to kids throughout National Library Week. Sunday, April 13 at 3 p.m., Mayor Anthony (Tony) Spitaleri and Councilmember Ron Swegles will read stories to kids of all ages. Wednesday, April 16 at 11 a.m., Director of Public Safety Don Johnson and Lieutenant Camron Baily will read stories to kids ages 2 to 3½. Thursday, April 17 at 7 p.m., Lieutenant Penny Nelson and Officer David Falco will read stories to kids, ages 3 to 5. Saturday, April 19 at 10:30 a.m., stories will be told and kids 3 to 8 can help plant a tree in honor of Arbor Day.
All week long, kids can stop by the Children’s Desk at the Library to receive a free balloon.
