NASA SCHEDULES OUTREACH MEETING IN SUNNYVALE

Moffett airfield operations to be discussed

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – Sunnyvale residents will have an opportunity to ask questions and air their concerns about Moffett Federal Airfield at a community outreach meeting to be hosted by NASA. The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 10, beginning at 7 p.m. in Sunnyvale City Council Chambers. The meeting will be televised on KSUN-15, the City’s government-access television station.

NASA is responsible for oversight of Moffett operations and is the approving authority for requests to use the airfield. The City of Sunnyvale, reflecting the concerns of its residents, has long-held an official position against commercial flights. There is a recognition, however, that the airfield needs to maintain a certain level of service to be able to fund its own operation.

At the April 10 community meeting, NASA will present information about the airfield and other topics of interest. There will be an opportunity for the public to ask question and to express their opinions to NASA. Since the City of Sunnyvale can only express a viewpoint to NASA and not directly control flights, this is an important opportunity for the community.

Sunnyvale City Council Chambers are located in City Hall at 456 W. Olive Ave. The meeting will be broadcast live on KSUN-15, and replayed several times over the two weeks following the meeting. For a complete broadcast schedule, visit KSUN.inSunnyvale.com on the Web.
