sunnyvale invites community to discuss zero waste study issue

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – “Zero Waste” is a philosophy and design principle that goes beyond recycling, taking a far-reaching systems approach to the flow of resources and waste through society. Sunnyvale’s City Council will consider Zero Waste policy options in 2008.  

The City’s Recycling/Solid Waste staff will hold an informational meeting, which will include a review of Zero Waste policies and waste reduction/recycling programs from other cities, in order to engage business and residential community members in a discussion on the options that would best fit our community.  

The meeting will be held Wednesday, April 30, from 7 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., at the Sunnyvale Public Library, 665 W. Olive Ave., Program Rooms A and B.

An online input form will also be available beginning April 30 at www.sunnyvalerecycles.org to allow those who are unable to attend the community discussion to provide comments.  If you have any questions, call (408) 730-7484, TDD (408) 730-7501.
