HEALTH & SAFETY FAIR RETURNS TO SUNNYVALE’S COLUMBIA NEIGHBORHOOD CENTER
SUNNYVALE, Calif. – Bring the family to the City of Sunnyvale’s annual Health & Safety Fair for an afternoon of entertainment, demonstrations and fun. Admission is free and takes place Saturday, May 10, at the Columbia Neighborhood Center, 785 Morse Avenue, Sunnyvale, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Free health screenings, including dental, body mass index, blood pressure and cholesterol testing will be provided by health service technicians. The Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety will be on hand to give police and fire demonstrations. There will also be bicycle safety inspections and a bicycle helmet fitting station. One of the most entertaining attractions will be the return of the Southern California-based Perfection on Wheels BMX stunt team. This nationally-acclaimed team spins, glides, rolls and hops their BMX bikes through a program that entertains while promoting safe riding.
Once again this year, there will be a youth soccer tournament for ages 6 – 14. Registration is required and the tournament begins at 8:30 a.m. For more information about the soccer tournament call (408) 730-7117.
This year the City is also partnering with the Blood Center of the Pacific to coordinate a blood drive. Every year, thousands of people rely on blood centers for the blood that helps save their lives. Blood must be available 24-hours a day for emergency surgeries, cancer treatments, organ transplants and other emergencies. Through the support of blood donors, hospitals can continue to ensure safe and adequate blood supplies for their patients.
The Columbia Neighborhood Center is located at 785 Morse Ave., adjacent to Columbia Middle School. For more information about the Health & Safety Fair, call Karen Rivers at (408) 523-8150, TDD (408) 730-7501.
