STATE REPORTS SUNNYVALE POPULATION GAIN
SUNNYVALE, Calif. – Sunnyvale’s population has edged higher to 137,538, according to a report by the California State Department of Finance (DOF). The report shows a one-year increase of more than 2,000 people, 1.49 percent higher than the City’s 2007 population of 135,514.
Sunnyvale remains the second-largest city in Santa Clara County. San Jose, with a population of 989,486 is the largest city, and Santa Clara follows Sunnyvale with 115,503. The same report reflects a 1.72 percent increase for all of Santa Clara County, to a new population of 1,835,549.
The City of Sunnyvale, like many other cities, uses the DOF population report as its official population for the year. Sunnyvale will consider its population to be 137,538 until DOF issues its 2009 report next spring.
