SUMMER SWIM ACTIVITIES CANCELLED AT SUNNYVALE’S PETERSON POOL
SUNNYVALE, Calif. – Summer swim activities at Peterson Pool have been canceled by the Sunnyvale Department of Parks and Recreation. A major construction project at the site has forced the closing of the pool through the summer.
Sunnyvale Parks and Recreation normally operates more than 20 aquatics programs during the summer, including youth and adult swim lessons and recreational swimming. With two pools closed this year – Peterson and Columbia – the number of programs will be curtailed. Members of the public who have already registered for swim classes at Peterson Pool this season will be contacted by Parks and Recreation staff to discuss other class options. Anyone preferring to not transfer into a program at another pool will have their registration fees refunded.
City staff will be update online class schedules to include expanded class offerings at Sunnyvale Middle School, Lakewood and Washington Park pools. In addition, the California Sports Center operates the Fremont Pool under an agreement with the City. For more information, please contact Jillian Ritter, Sunnyvale’s Aquatics Coordinator, at (408) 730-7723, TDD (408) 730-7501. Parks and Recreation information is available on the Web by visiting Recreation.inSunnyvale.com. The California Sports Center can be reached at (408) 732-2257.
