SUNNYVALE BEGINS COUNCIL, PLANNING COMMISSION WEBCASTS

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – The City of Sunnyvale will begin webcasting City Council and Planning Commission meetings this week. Tuesday’s (June 3) City Council meeting and next Monday’s (June 9) Planning Commission meetings will be available as live Internet webcasts. The meetings may be viewed by visiting Webcast.inSunnyvale.com.

Providing webcasts of key City meetings to augment Sunnyvale’s government access television broadcasts on KSUN-15 has been an important issue for City Council. The ability to include an increased number of community members has long been viewed as a positive step in involving the community in an open government process.

One of the valuable resources of the City’s webcasting service is the archiving of meetings. Once a webcast meeting is archived, Web viewers can call up a specific meeting and then use the “Jump To” command to jump to a specific point in the meeting. No longer will anyone have to watch an entire meeting to try to find information on a specific discussion or decision. The archived meetings will typically be available online the Friday morning following a Tuesday Council meeting, and the Thursday morning following a Monday Planning Commission meeting. The archives will remain available for online viewing for a period of three years.

For more information about specific hardware and software requirements to view the meetings, visit Webcast.inSunnyvale.com and follow the appropriate links. For more information or other questions, please contact the Communications Division at (408) 730-7535, TDD (408) 730-7501.
