SUNNYVALE ADOPTS FY 2008/09 BUDGET
SUNNYVALE, Calif. – Sunnyvale City Council has adopted a $304.9 million budget for Fiscal Year 2008/09. The budget, which is 4.8 percent more than the FY 2007/08 budget, was adopted at Council’s regular Tuesday evening (June 10) meeting.
The new budget reflects revenues of $282.2 million, up 4.5 percent from FY 2007/08, and relies on the use of reserves to make up the difference between revenues and expenditures. The new budget includes funding for a new part-time environmental sustainability coordinator, as well as the purchase and installation of an automated materials handling system for the Library.
City Manager Amy Chan, in her budget letter of transmittal to City Council, emphasized “ … this budget is balanced, sustainable over the long term and provides resources for service priorities identified by Council. “
Sunnyvale’s fiscal year begins July 1.
