FIREWORKS ARE PROHIBITED IN SUNNYVALE
SUNNYVALE, Calif. – Residents and visitors to Sunnyvale are reminded that fireworks of all kinds are prohibited in Sunnyvale. Recognizing the inherent dangers of fireworks, Sunnyvale joined ranks with the majority of cities in the region by outlawing fireworks many years ago.
“Fireworks, from sparklers to firecrackers, have always held a strong risk of personal injury, whether from burns or explosions,” explained Deputy Chief Tim Carlyle. “And while fireworks can easily ignite a fire, this year’s lack of rain and dry brush have raised the fire risk to intolerable levels. With more than 1,000 wildfires currently burning in the state, the last thing we want to see is yet another fire ignited by fireworks.”
