Commissioner Comments

Commissioner Manfrey inquired how Commissioner Arnett’s presentation to City Council went on Tuesday, June 3rd and Commissioner Arnett responded that his comments were included in the packet.

Commissioner Ringel stated he visited Sunken Gardens Driving Range last week and would like to commend Director Walker and Parks and Recreation staff Curtis Black, Gary Carls, Derrick Diaz, Chris Gosé, Tommy Bracamonte and Randy Kunzelman for rehabilitating the Sunken Gardens Golf Driving Range a.k.a. "The Swamp" and turning it into a hospitable meadow and pleasant facility wherein the "hook" and "slice" become bearable. A job well done, thank you!

Commissioner Ringel also noted that the Senior Center project is nearing its completion "ON TIME" and "IN BUDGET" which is a tremendous accomplishment considering that over 95% of governmental building is late and over budget according to the Bureau of Statistics. It is to the credit of John Hopkins, Public Works, and Larry Iaquinto and John Lawrence, Parks and Recreation, that this has been achieved. Thank you for a job well done! The other Commissioners joined in support of this commendation.

Commissioner DeWolf noted that she attended a focus group regarding Leadership Sunnyvale and assisted in their booth at the Art and Wine Festival. She also pointed out that she is looking forward to cutting the ribbon at the grand opening of the new Senior Center scheduled for July 19th.

Commissioner DeWolf stated she would be absent at the June 25, 2003, meeting.
