Sunnyvale Council To Tour Stevens Creek Trail
A three-member sub-committee of Sunnyvale City Council will tour the Stevens Creek Trail in Mountain View on Sunday, July 5, begining at 10 a.m. from Landels School in Mountain View.

Sunnyvale Adopts FY 2009/10 Budget
Sunnyvale City Council has adopted a $273.6 million budget for Fiscal Year 2009/10. The budget, which is 19.6 percent less than the FY 2008/09 budget, was adopted at Council’s regular Tuesday evening (June 23) meeting.

Sunnyvale Public Library to Change Sunday Service Hours
Beginning July 5, Sunnyvale Public Library will open from noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays. Sunnyvale City Council approved the two-hour service reduction on Sundays when it adopted the City’s Fiscal Year 2009/10 budget June 23. In addition to the change in hours, fees on overdue materials will increase to 30 cents per day per item, a five-cent increase.

Sunnyvale Opens Community Award Nominations
Each year, the City of Sunnyvale honors exceptional members of the Sunnyvale Community. The City has opened nominations for this year’s awards, which will be presented at the mayor’s State of the City celebration, Saturday, September 26, at the Heritage Park Museum. Nomination forms are due by 5 p.m., Friday, July 31. To download a nomination form visit StateoftheCity.inSunnyvale.com.

The Top Tourist Sights of the Solar System
Astronomer and popular lecturer Andrew Fraknoi will use spectacular images from space probes and the world’s largest telescopes to explore the most intriguing future tourist destinations among the planets and moons in our cosmic neighborhood. A limited number of free tickets are available for this event to be held at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, July 9, at Sunnyvale Public Library.

Sunnyvale Urges Reduction in Water Use
The statewide drought, coupled with a two-thirds cut in imported water from federal and state water supplies, has prompted the Santa Clara Valley Water District to call for a 15 percent reduction in water use throughout the county.
