LABOR MARKET FORUM TO DISCUSS JOB TRENDS IN SANTA CLARA COUNTY

Sunnyvale, CA (11/26/01)  -- The public is invited to a free Santa Clara County Labor Market Information Forum on December 13 at AMD in Sunnyvale. Hosted by NOVA, the nationally recognized workforce development organization, the forum will highlight findings from NOVA’s 13th annual Occupational Outlook Report, which identifies trends and projections for a wide range of occupations in Santa Clara County.

“The forum aims to prepare workers for the 21st century by providing them with critical information to help them plan their careers,” said Mike Curran, Director of NOVA.  “Job seekers, educators, students, employment and training professionals, and economic development specialists can all benefit from the information at the forum.”

The forum will feature information from a recent survey about career growth projections for both entry level and professional jobs in 25 diverse occupations in Santa Clara County.  The survey results are documented in NOVA’s 13th annual Occupational Outlook Report. The report analyzes data received from over 300 local employers about salaries and benefits, skill requirements, training and education requirements, and growth projections for various occupations in the County. The report is produced as part of a statewide project called the California Cooperative Occupational Information System, and is a cooperative effort between NOVA and the Labor Market Information Division of the Employment Development Department.

Attendees will receive complimentary copies of the 2001 Occupational Outlook Report and the 2001 Training Directory, a comprehensive listing of Santa Clara County’s vocational and career training programs. The event will be held at AMD’s Commons Auditorium, located at 991 Stewart Drive in Sunnyvale. Attendees are requested to RSVP by calling (408) 730-7232 on or before December 11.  Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. and the forum runs from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
