Sunnyvale Parks & Recreation Receive International Recognition

On Thursday,
November 29th, Jennifer Vivo & Kristin Mingst of the Sunnyvale
Parks & Recreation Department attended an awards luncheon at LERN’s Annual
Convention in San Francisco, CA to receive a LERN International Award for Best Website.
The Learning
Resources Network (LERN) is an international association of lifelong learning
programming, which offers information and resources to providers of lifelong
learning programs. LERN members and customers are engaged in a variety of
programs, including: business classes, conferences, contract
training, continuing education, leisure learning, community education,
certificate programs, general interest classes, seminars, consulting, staff
training, recreation, continuing education, and online courses.
The website was
commended for having colorful images of their activity guides on the home page,
for having easy navigation, and for having a “Try It” feature, which highlights
particular classes that may be tried for only $5! In addition to being able to
find information on recreation jobs, local clubs, classes for all ages, special
events, park projects, and facility reservations, customers will soon be able
register for classes on-line.
