SUNNYVALE VICE-MAYOR JULIA MILLER ELECTED TO REGIONAL DIVISION OF STATE LEAGUE

Sunnyvale, CA (12/28/01) - Sunnyvale Vice-Mayor Julia Miller has been elected Second Vice President to the Peninsula Division of the League of California Cities.  Miller has served four years as a Sunnyvale representative to the Peninsula Division.

The Peninsula Division, comprised of the cities within Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties as well as the City of San Francisco, is one of the League’s 16 regional divisions.  The divisions participate in the development of League policies and services by expressing recommendations of the regional divisions.  The divisions also promote interest in the problems of municipal government and administration among the officers and employees of cities within the divisions. Vice Mayor Miller was elected by a vote of the Peninsula Division members at the December 19 annual League conference in Sacramento.

The League of California Cities (LCC) is an association of California city officials who work together to enhance their knowledge and skills, exchange information, and combine resources so they may influence policy decisions that affect cities. League services include legislative advocacy on behalf of cities, both in Sacramento and Washington, DC; educational programs and materials on subjects of concern to city officials; a research and information exchange to help officials perform their duties more effectively; and legal assistance to city attorneys in guiding their agencies in the intricacies of the law.

"I am honored to represent Sunnyvale as an officer on this regional division of the League of California Cities.  It is important to have a voice at the state level on discussions that impact the quality of life in our community" said Vice-Mayor Miller.
