Community Event Grant Applications Due January 25
Sunnyvale, CA (1/3/02) – Grant funding is available
to groups holding community events in Sunnyvale, under a new program launched
by the City. Designed to encourage
groups to hold more community events, the deadline to apply for grant funding
this fiscal year is January 25, 2002.
“Community events are an important way to celebrate
our City’s diversity, heritage, and uniqueness,” said City Manager Bob
LaSala. “We hope the availability of
grant funds will encourage community groups to hold more events, bringing the
community together and fostering a sense of place in Sunnyvale.”
Community event grants will be awarded on a
competitive basis, and preference will be given to events expected to attract
at least 500 participants. To receive
funding, admission to the event must be free and open to the public, the event
must be held within City limits, and sponsoring organizations must be
non-profit. Additional eligibility
requirements are listed in the application.
