Sc[i]³ Patents and Trademarks Moves to Sunnyvale Public Library

Sunnyvale, CA (1/4/02) – During the month of January 2002, Sc[i]³, the patent and trademark library, will move to the Sunnyvale Public Library located at 665 West Olive Avenue in Sunnyvale, a block away from the current site. To implement this major move, Sc[i]³ will be closed to regular walk-in reference service from January 2, 2002 until the move is completed near the end of January.

"Sc[i]³ is a tremendous asset to investors, entrepreneurs, and legal personnel all over Silicon Valley and the Bay Area," said Vickey Johnson, Director of the Sunnyvale Public Library.  "The move will be an added benefit for users of the patent and trademark library.  The public will have increased access to professional reference services and patent and trademark documents - up from 37 hours per week at the current site to 68 hours per week, coinciding with the Sunnyvale Public Library schedule."

Professional librarians at the library reference desk will receive training from staff of the US Patent and Trademark Office to provide assistance with basic patent and trademark searches. Internet workstations and a networked printer will provide access to the USPTO Web site for do-it-yourself searches.

Specialized intellectual property services that provide added value to inventors, entrepreneurs, and the legal community will be available at the Sunnyvale Public Library. These services include: training seminars and expert reference assistance; fee-based patent and trademark searches; and document delivery of USPTO file histories, certified applications, and other USPTO documents. Videoconferencing for general business needs, seminars, and examiner interviews with the Patent and Trademark Office will remain at the 465 South Mathilda location.

The patent and trademark services offered at the Sunnyvale Public Library are available to all members of the public, regardless of where they live.  For more information visit the Sc[i]³ Web site at www.sci3.com, call (408)737-4945, or email seminars@sci3.com.
