City Council Expands Community Outreach
Sunnyvale, CA (1/30/02) – A new City of Sunnyvale
outreach effort will make it easier for residents and community groups to share
their views with City elected officials.
Upon request, City Councilmembers will attend meetings of neighborhood
associations and other community groups to learn more about resident opinions
on City and neighborhood issues.
The City Council unanimously approved the outreach
effort, which was proposed by Councilmember John Howe at the January 8
Sunnyvale City Council meeting. “I
think it’s extremely valuable for us to go into the City’s neighborhoods and
listen to the people there,” said Councilmember Howe. The goal of the outreach effort is to expand citizen input on
City governance and enable Councilmembers to be better informed of resident and
neighborhood concerns.
For more information about the outreach effort, or to invite Councilmembers to attend your organization’s meeting, contact Lorna Dejillo, Neighborhood and Community Services, at (408) 730-7489, or email ldejillo@ci.sunnyvale.ca.us.
