Community Forum on Education Careers - May 2
SUNNYVALE, CA (04-16-02) — Teachers, principals, and aspiring educators are invited to attend “Those who can…Teach”, a Community Forum on Education taking place at DeAnza College in Cupertino on May 2. Local education professionals from throughout the educational field will discuss workforce needs, skill requirements, and the transformations of the education industry.
How can you become a teacher? What types of teaching jobs are available? What are the issues facing the education industry and what does its future hold? These questions and more will be answered through panel discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and multiple networking opportunities. The Forum will also reveal the latest trends and facts about one of Silicon Valley’s most highly demanded professions. Members of the public are asked to RSVP by calling (408) 730- 7232. Registration starts at 4:30 p.m.; the Forum runs from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Attendees will receive a copy of NOVA’s latest in-depth industry report, “Those who can…Teach”. The report highlights various pathways to becoming a credentialed teacher, discusses issues important to prospective educators, and contains profiles of outstanding teachers throughout Silicon Valley.
The Education Forum is presented by the NOVA Workforce Board, a public-private partnership serving local job seekers, employers, and the education and training community. “Those who can…Teach” is the latest report in a series of detailed, qualitative examinations of growing and emerging industries. NOVA’s Labor Market Information Plus (LMI+) team has also studied the health care industry, information technology, bioscience, digital media, hospitality and other emerging industries, utilizing field research and an ethnographic approach that reveals local workforce issues, realities, and trends that affect the community.
