Sunnyvale’s Water Pollution Control Plant Unveils New Web Site

Sunnyvale, CA (12/18/02) – In response to frequent requests from the public for online information about sewage treatment and storm water pollution prevention, the Environmental Division of Sunnyvale’s Water Pollution Control Plant recently launched a website to provide information that can readily be used by everyone—from elementary school students to retirees.

“It is also useful to a highly skilled technical audience looking for information on understanding water issues,” said Gail Glen, Environmental Outreach Coordinator for the Water Pollution Control Plant. “In addition to describing the plant’s operational processes, the site also explains how the plant is organized, funded, and regulated.”

In addition, specific tips on water pollution prevention for businesses and residents are included.  There are links to regional coordination efforts with other organizations engaged in protecting local creeks and South San Francisco Bay. An extensive environmental education section describing materials and presentations available and tours of the plant is also offered.

To access the site directly, go to http://www.ci.sunnyvale.ca.us/wpcp.  Or you may use the “Search” button on the navigation bar of the City’s home page.  For more information about the new site, contact Gail Glen at 408-730-7738 or gglen@ci.sunnyvale.ca.us
