July 28, 1998 has been set as the date for a public hearing of the assessment against individual properties for weed abatement purposes. Copies of the notice of public hearing and the tax rolls are attached. Staff recommends that the Council adopt the attached resolution confirming the report and assessment list for weed abatement.

Earlier this year, resolutions were adopted declaring weeds in the City to be a public nuisance and ordering the removal of this growth by or at the expense of the property owners. The Director of Community Development has filed a proposed assessment list with the City Clerk containing those properties against which abatement actions were taken. The public hearing has been set for July 28, 1998 and notice of this hearing, along with the proposed list of properties to be assessed and the amount of the assessment has been posted and published. The total amount for these assessments will be $3,740.56. In accordance with Municipal Code Section 8.20.060, et.seq., the assessment list totaling $3,740.56 was submitted to the City Clerk on July 1, 1998.

Adoption of the resolution should have a positive fiscal impact on the City.

Notice of the public hearing has been properly posed and published in accordance with Municipal Code Section 8.20.060.

Staff recommends that the Council adopt the attached resolution confirming the Director of Community Development’s report and assessment list for weed abatement.
