The City operates under a council-manager form of government. Seven councilmembers are elected at large by City voters for numbered seats and serve a four-year term. The City Charter limits councilmembers to serving two four-year terms within a twelve-year period.
The City Council selects one of its members to serve as Mayor every two years, and one as Vice Mayor every year.
The City Manager is appointed by the Council; provides leadership, strategic direction and overall policy guidance for the City; and is responsible for all day-to-day City operations through collaboration and coordination with City departments.
The City Attorney, also appointed by Council, advises and represents the City and Council in all legal affairs.
