The Department of Public Safety’s (DPS) Office of Emergency Services provides training, support and services to ensure the City is prepared to respond to and recover from the effects of major emergencies.

Be Informed

Register for AlertSCC and get emergency notifications for disasters, crime incidents and more.
Follow the @SunnyvaleDPS Twitter feed for local information during an emergency.
Tune to 1680 AM on your portable or car radio for local information during a disaster.

Be Prepared

The ReadySCC app (Santa Clara County) helps you create a plan and a kit. It lets you know what to do and where to go in an emergency.
Take a Listos California preparedness class, offered by Sunnyvale’s Office of Emergency Services. Classes are available in various lengths, locations, and languages.

Be a Volunteer Responder

The City’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) supplements uniformed officers. CERT responds to emergencies, disasters and public service events. Learn how to help your community when it’s most needed. Take a CERT Basic Training class.

The Sunnyvale Amateur Radio Emergency Service (SARES) provide communication services during a disaster when regular methods are unavailable. SARES provides training for radio operators.
