Celebrate Sunnyvale at the State of the City 9/14

Join us for our annual State of the City event, as we celebrate all the great things happening in Sunnyvale. This year's theme is "Light, Love, Unity," celebrates Sunnyvale’s vision of diversity and inclusion.

At a Glance

The event will feature a variety of fun and informational activities for the entire family, including:

  • The Mayor’s State of the City Address and Community Awards presentation
  • Live entertainment on two stages
  • Free activities in the Fun Zone
  • Art Zone with a community chalk art and live mural demonstrations
  • Community resource tables

State of the City Address and Community Awards Ceremony

Mayor Larry Klein will deliver the annual State of the City address, followed by the City Council's presentation of the Sunnyvale Community Awards. These awards honor the contributions of some of the residents who make Sunnyvale a special place to live.

Community Award categories are:

  • Contribution to the Arts
  • Educator of the Year
  • High School Student of the Year
  • Environmental Achievement
  • Business of the Year
  • Distinguished Resident of the Year

Mayor Klein will also present the special Mayor’s Award of Excellence. By tradition, this award winner is not named until the ceremony.

Bike Valet

Ride your bike to State of the City! For the duration of the event, the City is offering a complimentary bike valet located on Murphy Avenue.

Bike valet hosted by Friends of Stevens Creek Trail.

Mural Artists Wanted

The City of Sunnyvale welcomes applications from established and emerging Bay Area mural artists to participate in the State of the City event.
