Rides for Toys - 11/25

Take part in a real toy "drive" at Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety's annual Rides for Toys event. 

Your kids can go for a spin on a real Sunnyvale fire engine when you bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate to Sunnyvale Community Services. The nonprofit serves more than 1,500 families in need during the holidays and lends a hand to local residents year-round.

You'll also have the chance to get fire safety tips from Sunnyvale Public Safety personnel. 

When: Saturday, Nov. 25, 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Where: Parking lot of Toys"R"Us, 130 E. El Camino Real

Be in line by 1:30 p.m. to be assured of a ride.

Suggested retail value of each donation: $25. Cash donations are also accepted.

About Sunnyvale Community Services

This nonprofit plays Santa during the holidays, but lends a hand year-round to Sunnyvale residents in need. The organization offers a variety of services and programs, including:

  • Help for veterans dealing with homelessness or eviction, partnering with Supportive Services for Veteran Families in Santa Clara County
  • Healthy food for the hungry, offered in partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank
  • Emergency financial aid for residents
  • Diabetes screenings and information for low-income residents, offered in partnership with El Camino Hospital
  • Backpacks and school supplies for children from low-income families, plus a weekend food program for families who rely on school lunches
