Volunteer for State of the City 9/13-14

Volunteer for State of the City
When: Shifts available Friday, Sept. 13, and Saturday, Sept. 14
Where: Downtown Sunnyvale

The State of the City takes place on Sept. 14. The event features the Mayor’s State of the City address, Community Awards presentation, live entertainment and children’s activities.

What You'll Do

Your help is needed with a variety of tasks, including:

  • Greeting visitors
  • Lending a hand with activities
  • Assisting with set-up (day before and day of the event) and tear-down

Volunteer shifts include:

  • Shift A: Friday, Sept. 13 - DAY PRIOR TO EVENT: Set-Up Volunteers: 2 to 5:30 p.m.
  • Shift B: Saturday, Sept. 14 - DAY OF EVENT: Set-Up Volunteers: 7 to 9:45 a.m.
  • Shift C: Saturday, Sept. 14 - DAY OF EVENT: Event Volunteers: 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (Lunch will be provided)
  • Shift D: Saturday, Sept. 14 - DAY OF EVENT: Clean-Up Volunteers: 2:45 to 4:45 pm.

Fingerprinting Requirement

For Shifts A and C: If you are over 18 years old you must be fingerprinted per City policy. Fingerprinting is arranged by the City, involves a brief appointment and is at no cost to you as a volunteer. You may sign up for multiple shifts.

How to Volunteer

Volunteer Application for State of the City

  • You must be at least 13 years old.
  • You must pre-register; we are unable to accommodate volunteer walk-ups on the day of the event.

Note: If you are a new volunteer, you will need to submit a Volunteer Application for State of the City. If you have volunteered for this event in the past or are a current City of Sunnyvale volunteer, email your contact information and shift(s) preference to our Volunteer Resources team.
