City Honors Community Members

The City recently honored some of the people who make Sunnyvale such a great place to live. Mayor Glenn Hendricks and the City Council presented the 2018 Sunnyvale Community Awards in a ceremony at the State of the City celebration. The event took place Sept. 15 in downtown Sunnyvale.

The Community Awards recognize the dedication and hard work of community members across a variety of fields who have made a difference in Sunnyvale.

This year’s awardees are:

  • Contribution to the Arts – Sunnyvale Community Players
  • Educator of the Year – Alex Ha (from Lakewood Elementary School)
  • High School Student of the Year – Melissa Lee (from Fremont High School)
  • Environmental Achievement – Project Revive (Homestead High School Future Business Leaders of America)
  • Business of the Year – Sunnyvale Martial Arts Academy
  • Distinguished Resident of the Year – Tara Martin-Milius
  • Mayor’s Award of Excellence – HomeFirst Feeding Partners

The City accepted award nominations from the community this summer. Nominations were reviewed by a panel of former Community Awards winners.
