Sunnyvale's Evenings of Cultural Arts Series opens its season with the Carolyn Sills Combo playing classic country and western swing.
Evenings of Cultural Arts presents Carolyn Sills Combo
When: Saturday, Oct. 27, 7:30 p.m.
Where: Sunnyvale Community Center Theatre, 550 E. Remington Drive
The Carolyn Sills Combo plays country and western swing chock full of three-part vocal harmonies, dueling guitar and non-pedal steel instrumentals—their own distinct style they’ve dubbed “spaghetti western swing.” The group will open the Evening of Cultural Arts Series with their dynamic live show, performing original songs that are replete with driving rhythms, twang in all the right places, and clever lyrics and warm humor to boot.
Sills and her longtime guitarist and husband, Gerard Egan, co-write the songs. The lineup also features Sunshine Jackson on vocals and percussion, Jim Norris on drums and Charlie Wallace on steel guitar.
The Combo has opened for or shared the stage with western music legends Asleep at The Wheel, James Hand and Don Edwards. The band just completed recording a new album, due to be released in 2019.
NOTE: After 5 p.m. on Oct. 26, the City's online ticketing service will be unavailable due to a planned data center migration. You can purchase tickets for this show in person at the Sunnyvale Community Center Theatre box office starting at 6 p.m. on the day of the show (Oct. 27).
