Apply to Public Safety's Youth Academy

The City of Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety is offering a unique, no-cost opportunity for youth this summer. Public Safety's Youth Leadership Academy offers young people the chance to build confidence in leadership skills.

We invite middle school-aged youth in Sunnyvale to apply for the Academy.

Who can attend the Academy?

Youth are eligible to attend if they:

• Are living in or attending school in Sunnyvale
• Are entering grades 7, 8 or 9 in Fall 2019
• Can commit to all sessions (weekdays, June 17 to 27, 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.)*

*Start time varies on field trip day. Other important dates: Parent orientation on June 13 and graduation on June 27.

About the Academy

Sunnyvale Public Safety officers and staff, along with other experts, lead the Academy, which offers two weeks of classes that will help youth develop confidence in areas such as:

• Communication
• Team building
• Decision making
• Conflict resolution
• Goal setting

There is no cost to participate.

Get the Youth Leadership Academy application

Submit a completed application and one letter of recommendation from a teacher, adviser, coach or advocate

The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. on Friday, April 26
