City Council Appointment

On Feb. 8, 2022, the City Council appointed Anthony (Tony) Spitaleri to at-large Council Seat No. 3. He will serve until the Jan. 3, 2023 Council meeting.

Timeline

  • Nov. 14, 2021 - Former Councilmember Mason Fong's resigned from at-large Council Seat No 3.
  • Nov. 22 - Council directed staff to return with options for an appointment process.
  • Dec. 14 - Council declared Council Seat No. 3 vacant and approved a public process to fill the vacancy by appointment.
  • Jan. 20, 2022 - Application deadline.
  • Jan. 31 and Feb. 2 - Council interviewed candidates.

Transition to District-based Elections

The City is changing to a district-based election system and Seat 3 is one of the three remaining at-large seats. At-large Seats 1, 3 and 5 will change to district-based seats in the Nov. 8, 2022 general election.
