Game Plan 2028 for Climate Action

What actions can we take to address climate change? The City has begun developing Sunnyvale’s Climate Action Playbook Game Plan 2028. Game Plan 2028 is a list of actions (called "Next Moves") that we can take together in the next five years to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. We want to hear your ideas for how the City and community can take climate action from 2023 to 2028.

Deadline: Submit your ideas by March 31 - Open City Hall survey

What happens to your submitted ideas?

  • We will review all submitted ideas.*
  • The Sustainability Commission will discuss ideas submitted by March 14 at their meeting on March 24.
  • We will shape selected ideas into "Next Moves" for Game Plan 2028.

*Ideas submitted after March 14 and up to the deadline will also be reviewed.

Background and Purpose

In 2019, the City adopted the Climate Action Playbook, a roadmap to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. We also adopted a three-year work plan, called the Game Plan. This Game Plan laid out specific actions, called "Next Moves," for the City and community to take to achieve our climate action goals. We extended the current Game Plan by a year to allow more time for implementation during the pandemic. The current Game Plan is nearing completion. We are seeking input on what our next Game Plan should include. Game Plan 2028 will be a five-year work plan from 2023 to 2028.
