Elections
The City of Sunnyvale is a Charter City with a Council-Manager form of government. City Voters elect six councilmembers by district and the Mayor at-large in November of even-numbered years.
The Mayor and councilmembers serve a four-year term. The City has a term limit of three four-year terms in a sixteen-year period, of which no more than two terms can be as mayor and no more than two terms can be as a member of the Council. Council selects the vice mayor annually.
