Businesses have three days to pick up their carts.

The existence of any accumulation of litter, junk, machine parts, scrap material, plant cuttings or similar matter which constitutes a threat to the health or safety of any person, or renders any premises visible from any other property or public way unsightly and detrimental to the general welfare, is prohibited.

The existence of any fence or other structure or thing on private property abutting, fronting upon or visible from any public street, sidewalk or place, which is in a sagging, leaning, fallen, decayed or other dilapidated or unsafe condition, is a nuisance and must be maintained.

If graffiti is in progress, call 911 and provide location and description (your name and phone number are optional).

If the graffiti is not in progress, call the Graffiti Hotline at 408-730-7680, or Report Graffiti Online.

Property owners are responsible for removing graffiti from their property. The City is responsible for removing graffiti on public property such as street signs, parks and public buildings.

Home businesses are permitted in the City with an approved Business License.

Noise before 7 a.m. or after 10 p.m. is considered a Noise Disturbance. Call Public Safety non-emergency at 408-730-7180.

Airports are responsible for their noise impact on the communities they occupy. The City encourages residents to express their concerns about aviation-related noise to the appropriate airport.

Construction – Construction Hours

Leaf blowers – Leaf blowers may be used in any residential area between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., and must operate at or below 65 dBA (decibel level). Municipal Code 19.42.030 Noise or sound level

Barking dogs – Call the Public Safety desk officer at 408-730-7110.

Burning trash under any circumstances is illegal.

Garage conversions, additions, sheds, roof extensions, patios or any other structures erected without the required permits are not allowed.

Auto Repair – Minor auto repair is allowed on private property only during the hours of 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and occurring for no more than 72 hours. Vehicle painting is prohibited.

Parking – Vehicles must be parked on paved surfaces. Boats, trailers, and recreational vehicles (RVs) must be parked perpendicular to the street. They must be on a permanent paved surface, and should not block any driveway.

All vehicles should be licensed and operable.

Any vehicle left parked in the same spot on the street for more than 72 hours is in violation per Sunnyvale Municipal Code 10.16.120.

Report Abandoned Vehicle

Property owners are required to prune any vegetation that is encroaching into the sidewalk or street. Vegetation in the park strip (area between sidewalk and street) or on a private property must not impair visibility of the street or sidewalk and must not exceed 2 feet in height in the park strip.

The existence of weeds upon the premises, or public sidewalks, or streets or alleys between said premises and the center of any public street or alley is prohibited.
