The City has established several committees to advise staff on specific topics. Membership appointments are made by the City of Sunnyvale. Vacancies are filled throughout the year.

You must be a registered Sunnyvale voter to apply for a position on an advisory committee, unless otherwise noted.

Age-Friendly Advisory Committee

Purpose

Meetings are held monthly to discuss action plan progress and obtain input and recommendations on new age-friendly projects or topics.

Membership is made up of 10 to 12 community members.

Qualifications

Any Sunnyvale resident with an interest in identifying issues and creating solutions to promote Sunnyvale's age-friendly livability.

Term

There are no term limits for this committee.

Purpose

The committee provides input to City staff on accessibility issues related to City services, programs and facilities.

Committee consists of up to seven members

Qualifications

Members must: represent a Sunnyvale resident with a disability, be a family member or caregiver of a resident with a disability, be affiliated with an agency serving someone with a disability in Sunnyvale; or be an expert in areas related to accessibility issues.

Term

Two years. Members may reapply at conclusion of term.

Columbia Neighborhood Center (CNC) Community Advisory Committee

Purpose

The Committee advises the Columbia Neighborhood Center (CNC) staff and provides input on CNC's services, identifies community needs and assists with special projects.

Composition

At least seven members from the service area approved by the CNC Joint Task Force, the CNC’s governance and oversight board. The committee includes at least one member representing the following: students, parents, school staff, business members, Sunnyvale residents and experts in areas related to CNC’s services.

Qualifications

Any member of the community who is interested in programs that serve the needs of the CNC service area, (unless that person’s spouse, household member or relative is currently serving as a member on the Joint Task force, employed at the center, serving as a member of the team or providing services at the center).

Term

Two years, requiring about 15 hours of service annually

Teen Advisory Committee (TAC)

Purpose

The committee advises staff on teen interests related to recreation and volunteerism. TAC also coordinates recreation events and volunteer opportunities for teens once per semester.
